This Week's Decouvertes: Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Love is love is love is love!  Thank you again, Sesame Street!

Happy Pride Month!  We believe in celebrating love in all its wonderful forms and teaching our children to be open-minded and kind, and to honor and celebrate differences.

We find that books are always a wonderful to explore these topics with children.  Here are just a few LGBTQ inclusive children's books we love or that have been recommended by friends:

We will be donating 100% of proceeds from our Les Gamins x Goldteeth Brooklyn "Love is Love" tees to  GLSEN which works end discrimination, harassment and bullying related to sexual orientation and gender identity in schools nationwide.  Here are a few other organizations to consider supporting this month, and always:

  • The Trevor Project  provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention programs and services for LGBTQ+ youth.

  • The Human Rights Campaign is a civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality.

  • The Marsha P. Johnson Institute works to protect and defend the human rights of  Black transgender people by organizing, advocating and creating community to heal.

  • New Alternatives works with LGBTQ+ homeless youth in NYC to build stable adult lives by providing long-term support, weekly case management, education services, life skills training and community-building recreational activities/

  • Our friends at Hazel Village are donating a portion of their sales for the month to the Okra Project, a wonderful organization bring nutritious meals to Black Trans People experiencing food insecurity.

There are so many  incredible LGBTQ-owned small businesses.  Here are just a handful we love.  Please share any others, we love discovering new shops!

  • Amazing-smelling candles, beautiful packaging!  Boy Smells is also donating a portion of sales to the Trevor Project for the month.

  • Minna offers beautiful, ethically made home goods.  They are based in Hudson, NY but you can also shop their assortment online.  They've got so many great pillows.

  • Otherwild is queer-identified woman-owned store with the fun and thoughtfully curated assortment of unique goods for your home, your kids or yourself!

  • For those in LA,  check out the colorful and flower-filled Bloom & Plume Coffee.  In the meantime, you can also check out their cool merch!

Have a wonderful, love-filled weekend!
