This Week's Decouvertes: 'Cause we've got one world

Vietnam is experiencing its worst wave of Covid-19 after a near perfect record of fending off the pandemic.  Only 2% of the population has been fully vaccinated and hospitals are over capacity.  Millions of people have been forced out of work and are in lockdown with no access to basic needs such as food or medicine.  Nguyen Coffee Supply is working with local organizers to donate to two Vietnamese-led organizations, From Saigon To Saigon and the Lotus Charity Foundation, that are providing direct relief to those in need through food and medication packages.  Please consider donating if you can.  $8 is enough to provide food for one person for 2 weeks.

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is on Monday and our little Buddhist/Jewish/American/Canadian/Vietnamese family will be celebrating with virtual musical family service and some apples and honey.   We celebrate 3 different New Years in our home and cherish the opportunity each one brings to reflect and reset.

The Conscious Kid has partnered with the PJ Library on a great round-up of books about the Jewish New Year.  We're looking forward to reading these books: A Moon for Moe and MoRachel's Roses and Once Upon An Apple Cake

For those in NYC, curbside composting is back this fall!   Make sure you call 311 or sign up here.  Hurricanes, fires and floods are ravaging the country and this is a quick and easy way to help with the current climate crisis on an individual level.

How is it September?!
