Tell us briefly about your path to parenthood.

It was a surprise! I had my first in the middle of college- it was a difficult but I absolutely loved being a young mom.

What are some of your favorite qualities in your kids?

They are curious and kind. And witty, so witty!

How has life changed for you since becoming a parent, both the good and the bad?

Definitely less “me time” and date nights are scarce. But the joy from spending my days with these little humans is so worth it.What piece of advice would you offer a new parent?

What was the biggest surprise to you about having a child?

The amount of love- it’s scary. Overwhelming. The fact that you’d do ANYTHING for this little person. You can’t be prepared for that feeling.

What excites you most about parenthood?

Watching them get excited about things. Watching them grow. Watching them turn into these remarkable humans. Also getting to break the rules- like surprising them with dessert before dinner, or staying up late.

What are some of the biggest challenges, or what makes you most nervous, about parenthood?

I want them to look back on their childhood and think of it as a happy one. Will they only remember how much nagging I did to get them to eat or clean up? Or will they remember the adventures we went on together?

How would you describe your parenting style?

I try to be relaxed. Let them get dirty and figure things out on their own.

What piece of advice would you offer a new parent?

Trust your gut and don’t be afraid to ask for help

Tell us about your summer plans with your family.

We’re going to Yellowstone in July. Otherwise we’ll be near the water- beach, pool or lake.

What are some of your favorite places nearby to take your family?

We have lots of state parks, wilderness parks and the beach.

What are some of your favorite things about your city?

It’s so family friendly! Tons of parks, paved trails and a lake.

What are your kid's favorite adventures?

Anything to do with animals. They’re not always keen to go outside, but st the sight of the first snail they are so excited and happy to be exploring.

What's next on your adventure wishlist?

I really want to take the family to see the Redwoods!

‘til our next adventure.
